Selected Poems

She asks me with a bewildered look in her EYE as it SPIES for an answer, a CLUE. Is it a RUSE? Just her way to blow my FUSE. Is it my fair DUE? Parents are STUpid.   

Teeth clenched. Words DRAWN.  Eyes WORN into my soul.  My first BORN. She's so TORN. I'm TORN apart, consumed, what do I do? Moon. I love you to the moon and BACK. There is no ATTACK. WHACK. Words. Words SLAP.  I sometimes feel SLAPPED. REACT.  I lose my COOL. Feel like a FOOL. I'd die for YOU.  

Parenting is not for sissies. I don't get it.  What do you mean? The mantra of teenage hormones, teenage STRESSES, teenage independence seekers, teenage MESSES. She REGRESSES into her teenage world where she OBSESSES. I am clearly WRONG. Five minutes is so fucking LONG as eyes roll. Get out of my room.  

Parenting is not for sissies. I am human. I am not perfect. I have my own STRESS and MESS. I CONFESS I try to control too much. It needs to be LESS. Often in the driveway, our admitted neutral ground, we say we are the SAME. We are both to BLAME.

We fight as big as we love.
