Selected Poems

I'm not dead which is awesome

Made it back from Flagstaff through a blizzard that reminded me of the spinning tunnel your roller coaster car glides through as it enters Space Mountain, except that I'm allowed to wear my glasses and have a can of Diet Pepsi next to me. After an hour of hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that they were tingling, the blizzard subsided and was replaced by torrential rain drops violently beating the crap out of my windshield, sort of like when the moon sobs uncontrollably because the sun just confessed  “I no longer shine for you.” After the moon had no more tears to shed, the fog enveloped me like a blanket caressing my limbs and invading my most private thoughts. I put on my hazard lights. Click click. Pause. Click click. Pause.

Rather than nestle in its textured grey warmth and levitate to a sweet 45 mph somber, I jolted, drank some Diet Pepsi, reached into my cooler for another cheese stick, and continued my journey home.
